A resident, a member of Sutton Neighbourhood Watch, reports that vandals were seen targetting the Sutton Meadow on Sunday 2nd August at 7.55 pm:
“I witnessed 3 teenagers and 1 younger boy pull up the supporting posts from the latest tree to be planted. He was about to swing at the tree with it when he saw me watching and dropped it. They left the field pretty quick after that.
Didn’t have my phone on me so couldn’t take a picture.”
The Sutton Meadow is that area of land opposite the Gate Inn. Open to walkers on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays from 07.00 until 19.00 hrs. A great shortcut through to the church and the footpaths beyond. It seems that the meadow has now become a target for a few errant youths, the 3 teenagers and a younger boy who were observed there on Sunday, about to create some mischief. Many thanks to the resident who reported the incident and who by showing interest in the activity on the day managed to discourage the youths. Please keep your eyes open as you pass the meadow. Contact the police on 101 if you see anything suspicious and let us know what you have seen.
