We have received the following advice from one of our members:
In the past I have received a substantial number of scam attempts supposedly from my Broadband Provider BT.
BT have an abuse reporting e-mail address and will take down any sites using a BT Email address for the purpose of a scam attempt. You simply e-mail : firstname.lastname@example.org and quote the date, time and senders e-mail address. Then use you own e-mail system to “block” mails from that address in future.
I have also received similar e-mails from a sender pretending to be HMRC claiming I have an unpaid tax bill or a refund of tax paid. HMRC have a similar system to BT. You can e-mail; email@example.com and again quote date, time and email address of sender and HMRC will do their best to remove the senders account and take legal action if possible.
