We sent out an alert on Sunday 25th February about an intruder who was disturbed whilst attempting to steal from a property on Sutton Lane.
We have since spoken to the resident concerned and offer an update to the situation. The resident heard a noise from a bedroom at the far end of the property and disturbed a would be burgler as he rifled through open drawers. The intruder retreated through an open window into the back garden and hence away into open fields. The police were called and subsequently forensics have “dusted” the bedroom furniture for finger prints. The resident reports that there are no obvious losses and believes the intruder was after cash.
The situation highlights that even in broad daylight (incident occurred around 16.00 hrs) that our properties are vulnerable to the most determined thieves. We also reported some suspicious characters walking to the rear of properties on Station Road some time later than the incident on Sutton Lane. We have heard no more and hope that the prowlers were unlucky in their forray. You might consider, as we do, that backing onto open fields, whilst good for the view, does leave us a little more vulnerable and sharpens our resolve to impede such access as best we can.
