A member has written to us reporting a suspicious caller:
I wanted to warn villagers about an unusual visitor we had at our house today. A person rang our doorbell and went to take a good look at our caravan near the house. When questioned, he said he was a tree surgeon that had recently done some work for our neighbours. He then corrected this and said he’d done some work for someone down the road. He then quickly changed the conversation to ask us if we wanted to sell our caravan as he had been looking for one for a long time. When we refused, he left and didn’t ask about the trees. What was particularly unusual was he said he had called before but nobody had answered (he hadn’t, we’ve checked the cameras). He was interested why we were home when we didn’t have a car on the driveway (we have a garage – he must have missed it). He might be genuine, but we felt it was very suspicious and we wanted to warn other residents to be alert. The man was heavily built, with an Irish accent and a short beard. He was driving a silver truck.
