The Speedwatch Team are now active throughout Sutton, you may have seen us, you may have been “Speedwatched” already. For those yet to encounter a Speedwatch a friendly motorist has shared this video snippet of his experience on Station Road.
You will see the Team of 3 in High Visibility jackets, one is handling the gun and calling out the speed, one shouting out the VRM (Vehicle Registration Mark) and counting cars through the zone, the third making a note of Time, Speed, Direction of Travel, VRM, vehicle make, model, colour.
So we are quite busy. So now if you see us on the roadside you now know what is taking place. The details of the vehicles exceeding 35mph are shared with Nottinghamshire Police at the end of the session.
The object of Speedwatch is to improve road safety and driver behaviour. Speedwatch and the data collected and shared with Nottinghamshire Police will not result in speed enforcement but may result in the Police writing to registered keepers to raise awareness of speeding.
